What is a database?
Databases are special search tools the Libraries offer (and pay for) to help you find articles. While you use the Internet to access them, they are not like Google or other free websites.
Databases usually contain searchable collections of journal, magazine, and newspaper citations. Some special databases contain other types of materials such as music, scores, maps, or images. In some cases the full text of the article is available within a database; in other cases you will link to the full text elsewhere, be directed to the Library's print journals, or need to request the article through WorldShare interlibrary loan.
